Yoga Bikram Mazargues, Marseille

The Mail-address yb-13 is short for the name „Yoga Bikram“ and the year when the studio opened. The studio is located in a remoted quarter in the South of Marseille. With metro and bus one can get there within three quarters of an hour. They share the courtyard with a garage. One seems to smell the very near sea. But when I finally had found the studio and the yogis appear ona after another, there is no teacher…

Sally, the owner and teacher had organised a replacement in time, but the instructor didn’t turn up. The nine yogis are waiting to no avail: there was no lesson. That means for me that I cannot  pursue my aim to practise in all of the studios. With the other two studios in Marseille I have a fixed schedule so I can’t change hours any more. Instead I went for a coffee with Céline, another waiting Yogi so she could tell me what I missed.

Céline was in different sorts of sport. When she began to practise Bikram yoga she managed to get rid of her back ache. She likes the heat and the sweat a lot. During peak hours there will be 15 yogis practising, in others seven to ten. Like in most of the places there are usually more women then men. Sally is said to be a strict and competent instructor. She knows to guide well, to correct and to motivate. Who knows, perhaps one day I will come back to the studio and so I will be able to experience it myself.
