Im Sommer war die Idee, kurz vor Weihnachten war das neue Bikram Yoga Studio in Eschborn eröffnet. Es ist ein Vorzeigestudio, schöner könnte es nicht sein. Peter Funke, erfolgreicher Unternehmer, lernte Bikram Yoga vor ein paar Jahren durch seine Schwiegertochter kennen und lieben. Er wurde richtiggehend süchtig. Und als sein Studio an der Leipzigerstrasse im Sommer mangels Nachfrage schloss, weil der Mietvertrag mit Feroze Khan als Studio-Manager und gleichzeitig der erfolgreichste und erfahrenste Yoga Teacher in Europa, auslief, entschieden sich die beiden, ein Nachfolgestudio in Eschborn zu eröffnen – im Untergeschoss seines bestehenden Bürogebäudes. Wahrlich für alle eine Win-Win-Situation.

Auf Schritt und Tritt merkt man die Handschrift seiner Frau Christine, die liebevolle, geschmackvolle Einrichtung. Die Räume sind grosszügig, modern, es wurde an alles gedacht. Im Heissen Raum haben fünf Reihen Matten hintereinander Platz. Über das vergangene Wochenende wurde das Studio kurz geschlossen, um die Heizung noch besser in den Griff zu bekommen und die letzten Details zu vollenden.

Wir trainieren zu 14., auch der Mit-Besitzer ist dabei. Feroze unterrichtet nicht nur souverän und mit wachsamen Augen, sondern er demonstriert mit Schülerinnen, wie man Posen noch perfekter machen kann. Er weist zum Schluss auf einen Workshop hin, den er demnächst im neuen Studio abhalten wird.. Glücklich wer dabei sein kann; ich durfte einen solchen in Zürich und einen zweiten in Basel besuchen.

The idea of a new studio in Eschborn near Frankfurt came up last summer, shortly before Christmas the studio opened. It is really one to demonstrate how beautiful a studio can be made. Peter Funke, a successful businessman learnt about this style of yoga from his daugther-in-law. He became addicted. Last August the studio where he used to practice closed because the leasing contract expired. Feroze Khan, the studio manager and at the same time the most experienced yoga teacher in Europe and Peter Funke had the idea of a co-ownership – in Peter Funk’s business building – a true win-win situation.

The studio is located in the basement. At every turn you notice how carefully and affectionate Funke’s wife Christine decorated the rooms. In the hot room there is space for five rows of mats. During the last weekend the studio had to close for improvement of the heating and for completing the last details.

We are 14 yogis practising, among us the co-owner. Feroze is teaching, not only confident and with observant eyes, he also demonstrates with the help of yoginis how one could do postures even better. At the end of the intoxicating class he mentions the workshop he will give soon in the new studio. Lucky who will be able to attend. I took part in two of them – one in Zurich, the other in Basel, and it was worth it!
